There had been a moody trail of storm-blackened days that week, so we expected greyness. Instead Manchester knocked us sideways with its beautiful habit of flipping the switch around 4pm and blasting us with one of those summer evenings that makes you stop and marvel, eyes soaking in the light, ears tuning into ice cream van chimes five streets over. I had a blissful time hanging out with Meg and Calum, in one of my favourite Manchester parks – Parsonage Gardens in June feels like an outdoor rave for plants and blooms and bees! Getting to know two such gentle, generous, thoughtful people and take their pictures in amongst all the leaves gave me one of my favourite summer evenings of the year.

Together with some images that I absolutely love.

Back in March I spent a hazy sun filled afternoon spent roaming the streets of Manchester with this brilliant pair. They used to be camera-shy, but somewhere between Lever St and sundown we all agreed there was no need for that.

Meet Carmel and Dave, not quite married, very much in love.

A week ago today Charlotte and Alex became Mr & Mrs, so to celebrate I thought I’d share their pre-wed shoot in London!

Back in February I had the total pleasure of hanging out with this pair for a few hours, in a chilly but sun streaked Stoke Newington. Charlotte and Alex showed me round their old neighbourhood, the place they’d spent most of the last decade together. We chatted, wandered past their old flat, chatted some more, stopped off in Clissold Park, where a dog decided to sit on my feet for a bit (warmed up my toes at least), and popped by the town hall before heading home in the late winter sun. Quite apart from being a pair of stone cold foxes, these two are ridiculously lovely, and carry that beautiful vibe of having loved each other for a very long time.

Here are some images from a wintry walk by the seaside with the wonderfully warm and funny Sarah and Mike. We went for a wander in their hometown of Blackpool, saw a few sights (you can’t really miss a gigantic disco ball) and beat the chill with a bag full of hot sugar doughnuts. Blackpool always conjured up colour and noise for me, penny arcade clatter and candyfloss hands. November is a different story, less daytrippers and more locals, with a kind of hush and calm drifting over everything. We seemed to have the seafront almost to ourselves. Birds wheeling above, skies I could have stared at for hours and beautiful November light.

Anyway. These two are getting married soon and it’s going to be brilliant.

It’s cold, it’s drizzly, it’s January… so I’m escaping! Back to an August afternoon of sunshine strolls and summer colour.

I met Sarah and Ben to take some portraits of them before they become Mr + Mrs. They are an incredibly sweet pair, and completely head over heels when it comes to each other. We spent a lovely couple of hours wandering around the Northern Quarter, stopping off for coffee and cake in some of our shared favourite spots.

I introduced them to one of my all time favourite emporiums of craft, Fred Aldous where they kindly indulged my love for the resident vintage photobooth, and we hit the sugar wall hard with some mindblowing hot chocolate – cheers BonBon, for your magical corner of Manchester that now calls to me over the rooftops, like a cocoa covered siren.

A big thank you to all the little businesses who let us hang out, to Sarah + Ben for being so lovely, and to the scenes and streets of my beautiful city.
